WELCOME TO THE PAUL SAWYIER PUBLIC LIBRARY COMPUTER CENTERS.

 


The Library offers free Public Access computers that are available for Internet access, word processing, spreadsheet, creating presentations, desktop publishing, trip planning, database management and much more. Several workstations are located in the children's department specifically for their use and include children's programs and games.


COMPUTER USAGE:
Use of a Library computer indicates agreement to all of the Library's policies.

Before using a computer and/or accessing the Internet, each user must log on, using finger identification. Use of the computers will be on a first come, first served basis.
First floor computers are reserved for those age 16 and over.
Second floor computers are reserved for those under age 16. Adults may not use these computers unless they are assisting their child and the child is with them at the computer terminal, paying attention to the screen.


COMPUTER WORKSTATIONS:
The sit-down stations and stand-up stations on the first floor may be used in any combination for a total of 150 minutes per day.
The stations in the Youth Department on the second floor have 30 minute time limits per day.
The stations in the Young Adult area on the second floor have 90 minute time limits per day.

PRINTING:
Please be aware of what you are printing. You are responsible for all your print jobs.

Printing is $.10 per page for black / white and $.25 for full color. Color printing is available on the first floor. Printed materials may be picked up at the print release station from the first floor computers or at the Youth Services Desk from the Youth Services Room computers.

TYPEWRITER:
Available on first floor.
Provide your own paper or purchase it at the front desk for $.10 per page.

Computer/Internet Use Policy

Using any public access computer/internet workstation at the Paul Sawyier Public Library is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use will result in loss of this privilege. Examples of inappropriate use include, but are not limited to, those listed below.

Examples of inappropriate use, include, but are not limited to:

Any illegal activity;
Unauthorized copying of copyright-protected materials;
Tampering with library software & hardware, including, but not limited to changing wallpaper, adding/deleting icons, bookmarks, etc.;
Sending threatening, obscene or harassing materials, messages;
Sending, receiving, displaying, viewing, printing text and/or graphics which may reasonably be construed as obscene.

When you use a public access computer/internet workstation at the Paul Sawyier Public Library, you agree to use the computer/internet resources in a responsible manner, consistent with the educational and informational purposes for which they are provided and you agree to the Library’s rules and regulations.
Library staff is available to assist patrons with internet usage, but may not be familiar with every application patrons wish to use. Due to scheduling restraints, there may not be an internet trained librarian on duty at all times. Because of the many different available applications, Library staff cannot provide complete technical support.


MISUSE OF THE LIBRARY’S COMPUTER/INTERNET WORKSTATIONS AND/OR TYPEWRITER MAY RESULT IN TERMINATION OF LIBRARY PRIVILEGES.
