The Library will begin its six-week summer session of story-hours for
children the week of June 22. All story-hours are free and open to the
public; however, pre-registration is required for the weekly programs. To
register your child for any of the following story-hours, call the Youth
Services Department at 352-2665 x 205 or stop by the Youth Services
Department. Registration for all programs begins on Monday, June 15.
Mother Goose Time is an interactive program for children
ages 12-24 months who are accompanied by an adult. This is a 30-minute
program in which short rhymes, songs, finger plays, and books are combined
in a gentle program for babies and their caregivers. Mother Goose Time will
be held on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. The first session will be held on Tuesday,
June 23 at 11:00 a.m.
Parents & Tots is for 2-3 year olds who are accompanied by
an adult will be held on Mondays at 10:00a.m. or Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
This program is designed to introduce the very young child to simple
stories, finger plays, songs, and activities. Parents should select one of
the 30-minute sessions to attend. The first sessions will be held on Monday,
June 22 at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m.
The Storytime program for 4 and 5 year olds and for those
children entering kindergarten will meet on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. or
Thursdays at 3:15 p.m. The Storytime program is a 45-minute program designed
for preschoolers and involves listening to stories, singing songs, crafts,
and other activities. Parents should select one of the 45-minute sessions
for their child to attend. The first sessions of Storytime will be held on
Tuesday, June 23 at 10:00a.m. and Thursday, June 25 at 3:15 p.m.
The Booksters program is for children in grades 1 & 2 will
meet on Mondays at 11:00 a.m. or Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. This 1-hour program
includes books, stories, crafts, and fun activities for the primary-level
student. Parents should choose one of the 1-hour sessions for their child to
attend. The first Booksters sessions will begin on Monday, June 22 at 11:00
a.m. and Thursday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m.
Family Fun Night is a 1-hour program designed for families
and their children ages 4 and up and will meet on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. It
includes stories, crafts, and entertaining activities that the entire family
will enjoy. The first session of Family Fun Night will be on Thursday, June
25 at 6:30 p.m.
Lit & Lemonade is a book discussion group designed for
children entering 4th and 5th grades. This exciting group will meet on
Tuesdays at 3:15 p.m. High quality books will be the focus of discussion and
other fun activities. Lit & Lemonade is a great program for kids involved in
Battle of the Books. The first session will be Tuesday, June 23 at 3:15 p.m.
Mother-Daughter Book Club is a book discussion group for
girls entering 4th through 6th grades and their mother or other special
adult. This group’s first meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 30 at 6:30
p.m. and light refreshments will be served. The group will not meet weekly
to allow reading time. This summer Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell in Love by Lauren
Tarshis, Gentle’s Holler by Kerry Madden, and Savvy by Ingrid Law will be
discussed. Led by school librarians and PSPL staff, this book club will
discuss high quality books that children and adults will love!
