An Evening with Silas House
June 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Paul Sawyier Public Library is proud to welcome award-winning author Silas House on his paperback release tour for Southernmost. Join him as he discusses the book, his time on the road, and answers questions from the audience. House will also discuss his documentary film, hillbilly, which traces the evolution of the hillbilly stereotype in media and culture and seeks to expand understanding of Appalachia. A signing will follow with copies of the book available for purchase from Poor Richard’s Books.
Silas House is the New York Times bestselling author of six novels, including his most recent one, Southernmost, which was long listed for the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, was a Booklist Editors’ Choice, a recommendation of the New York Public Library, and appeared on several best of the year lists. House’s writing has appeared in Time, The New York Times, Garden and Gun, Oxford American, and many other publications. He is the winner of the Nautilus Award, the E.B. White Award, the Weatherford Award, and many others. A former commentator for NPR’s “All Things Considered,” House is also the host of the popular podcast “On the Porch”. He teaches at the Spalding School of Writing and Berea College, where he is the NEH Chair.
