Volunteering

The minimum age to volunteer is 18 years old. ​

In order to begin volunteering with the Paul Sawyier Public Library, you will need to:

• Complete a volunteer application  
• Complete a screening with the Volunteer Coordinator
• Complete and pass a criminal background check
• Be placed in a volunteer role
• Complete a mutually agreed upon schedule
• Complete ‘on the job’ or in advance training, depending on the volunteer role

The Library does not offer volunteer opportunities for court-ordered community service.

Volunteer roles have varying time commitments. Some require a long term commitment, for several months or even a year.

Volunteers are expected to fulfil their time commitment to the library as it is agreed upon at the time of acceptance and scheduling.
