Capital City Museum proudly publishes stories of Frankfort and Franklin County. Leestown: Where the Buffalo Crossed the River by Patty Norris Peavler offers a look into Leestown, the first settlement of Franklin County, and shares the stories of the many people and elements which have made up its rich history. Kentucky Deceased by Katherine O'Dell and Zack Poehlein delves deeper into stories from the award-winning podcast with the same name hosted by Eleanor Hasken-Wagner. Crafting & Casting by Betty Barr and Don Kleier shares the history of the Kentucky bait-casting reels that put Frankfort on the map.
Frankfort Heritage Press, Inc. was purchased by the Capital City Museum in April 2025 & continues to operate under the direction of the Capital City Museum Board of Directors. The Frankfort Heritage Press is a non-profit organization and is patterned for charitable, literary, and educational purposes. Their goals are to further inform Kentuckians about Franklin County’s rich history, to build a photographic archive available to all, and to publish materials for those who have an interest in recapturing Frankfort’s past and preserving its many historical landmarks.
