Program Description

Event Details

Light pollution, the unintended consequence of artificial outdoor lighting, is washing out the heavenly vistas that humanity has enjoyed for most of our history. Light pollution impacts far more than our view of the cosmos, it negatively impacts all living things, including humans. Join NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Dan Price to learn more about light pollution, and what we can do to lessen its impact.

Dan Price is a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, informal educator, and newspaper columnist. His weekly “Bluegrass Skies” articles have appeared in the State Journal for more than three years. A lifelong amateur astronomer and student of science originally from Buffalo, New York, Dan has been conducting astronomy outreach programs in Minnesota and Kentucky for over a decade. Price's passion for public education stems from the belief that a better understanding of the way the world works is a cornerstone of compassion and community.

This program is sponsored by PSPL and DarkSky Frankfort, a Frankfort Audubon Society committee. DSF's purpose is to restore the nighttime environment by reducing the harmful effects of light pollution.
