Program Description

Event Details

Jazz is American music, and the various musical heritages that make up American culture flows through its veins. Join us for a Jazz Appreciation Month Celebration entitled Our Ladies in Jazz: Mother Earth and Appalachian Roots. Learn about the intersections of jazz with Kentucky's folk traditions, which include the blues, bluegrass, country, gospel, and R&B soul. Explore these connections through the voices of Kentucky women who have different vantage points, but whose individual voices allow the essence of jazz expression to flow through their musical delivery. Featured artists include Katie Didit, VSP, Laura Penn, Mary Jackson, and Sistah La La.

No registration necessary. Sponsored by the Friends of PSPL, K-JAM Collective, McCutchen Music, and PSPL.

This event is part of One Book One Frankfort.
