Library Card Application

Please note, this is for first-time cardholders.  If you previously had a card and it has expired or has been lost, call the library at 502-352-2665 during operating hours for assistance and more information.

To assist our community during the Covid-19 pandemic, Franklin County residents who complete the online application, and who do not currently have a library card, will be issued a temporary Digital Access account.  Online applications from Franklin County residents will be processed within 72 hours.  Once processed, you will receive a temporary digital card number which can be used to access our online services.  Cards will be valid through Dec 31, 2020 or until the library returns to full service.

Digital Access accounts can be used to access electronic materials and online services only.  Access to physical materials and in-building services are not included with a Digital Access account.  You will need to visit the Paul Sawyier Public Library to complete the registration process to upgrade from a Digital Access card to a Full-Service card before checking out any physical materials.  To complete the registration process, please bring the following to the library:

  • Necessary identification which includes valid picture ID with current address orvalid picture ID and proof of current address. This can include a blank check, receipts for rent, utilities, phone, etc., or mail addressed and delivered to you at your current address.
  • Persons under eighteen (18) must have their parent or guardian accompany them to pick up their card. By submitting the online application parents and/or guardians are accepting responsibility for what their child checks out, accesses on library computers and for any charges incurred by their child.
  • Your Digital Access Card.  (If you have lost or misplaced your digital access card, please alert library staff when upgrading to a full-service account.)

Individuals residing outside of Franklin County are not eligible to receive Digital Access accounts.

Kentucky Residents residing outside of Franklin County are eligible for Full-Service accounts.  To receive a full-service library card, complete the application.  After submitting the application, you must visit the Library within ten (10) days to pick up your card.  To complete the registration process, please bring the following to the library:

  • Necessary identification which includes valid picture ID with current address orvalid picture ID and proof of current address. This can include a blank check, receipts for rent, utilities, phone, etc., or mail addressed and delivered to you at your current address.
  • Persons under eighteen (18) must have their parent or guardian accompany them to pick up their card. By submitting the online application parents and/or guardians are accepting responsibility for what their child checks out, accesses on library computers and for any fines/charges incurred by their child.

Please note: Full-service cards must be picked up in person.  We are unable to send full-service cards via email or postal mail.

You are responsible for the use of your library card.  Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately to the Library.

Any person who lives, works, or attends school in Kentucky is eligible to receive a Paul Sawyier Public Library card free of charge. … Visitors from out-of-state or abroad are welcome to use the Library’s resources on-site.

The processes described on this page are subject to change based on the needs of the Library.  Some applications may require additional verification.  The Library reserves the right to revoke accounts due to misuse.
