Paul Sawyier Originals

PSPL is home to a collection of original Paul Sawyier art.

Paul Sawyier (1865-1917) moved to Frankfort, KY at age five. He was a prolific painter of portraits and impressionist landscapes, many from the local area.

He lived in Frankfort until his mother's death in 1908. He then lived in a houseboat on the Kentucky River and produced over 500 paintings. He later moved to New York.

Check out the galleries below to learn more about the history of Paul Sawyier and his artwork, some of which is housed at the library.
